You should achieve AAB grades or above (136 UCAS tariff points), or an equivalent entry score. Your tariff points should come from qualifications taken in the 2018/9 academic year, and be obtained from two or more A-Levels or their equivalent.


£24,000 over three years.

You’ll receive a cash payment of £8,000 per year in two instalments. Payments are made via BACS to a UK bank account.


Three years (pro rata for eligible courses of a different duration); conditional on continued satisfactory academic progress.


To apply for our Vice Chancellor's Scholarship you must:

  • achieve AAB grades or above (136 UCAS points), or an equivalent entry score. Your tariff points should come from qualifications taken in the 2018/9 academic year and obtained from two or more A-Levels or their equivalent
  • be a UK or EU student. International students should refer to our International Excellence Scholarship
  • be starting an undergraduate degree course on our Cambridge, Chelmsford or Peterborough Guild House campuses in September 2019
  • be studying full-time, unless there are exceptional circumstances preventing full-time study.

Applicants for our MBChB Medicine are not eligible to apply.

Foundation, extended, degree apprenticeship, distance learning degree programmes and/or CPD and short courses are also excluded.

As well as your academic achievements, we will be assessing:

  • your extra-curricular activities and achievements, for example in the areas of leadership, community service, volunteering or sport
  • your experience; personal or financial hardship.

How we assess your application

Your application will be assessed by a panel of ARU staff and representatives from the Students’ Union. You’ll be ranked based on the details you provide in your application and supporting documentation; we may also invite you to an interview to talk about your application.
