These scholarships are for new MPhil/PhD research students applying for a full-time MPhil/PhD in the School of Social Sciences, History and Philosophy in any of the School's departments:
- Department of Applied Linguistics and Communication
- Department of Geography
- Department of History, Classics and Archaeology
- Department of Philosophy
- Department of Politics
- Department of Psychosocial Studies.

- You must be a new Home/EU or International student, applying for a full-time MPhil/PhD degree in a department within the School of Social Sciences, History and Philosophy.
- The studentships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit.
- You need to apply to, and secure a place on, an MPhil/PhD degree run by the School of Social Sciences, History and Philosophy, which includes submitting a research proposal. See the How to Apply section on the programme page for full details and guidance.
- You also need to apply separately for the studentship by completing the Postgraduate Scholarship application form and returning it to the relevant administrator in the department to which you are applying.
- We will only consider currently enrolled MPhil/PhD research students within the School of Social Sciences, History and Philosophy under exceptional circumstances. Please send a brief supporting email, outlining these exceptional circumstances, when you submit this form.
- Applications will open soon. The closing date for 2020-21 applications will be in March 2020.
